Do I Need a License to Rent a Jet Ski in Malta?

This is one of the most common questions we get at Sips Water Sports – and it’s a good one!

The Short Answer

No, you do not need a licence to rent a jet ski in Malta as long as you’re staying within guided or designated riding areas.

How It Works at Sips

  • You receive a full safety briefing

  • You’re given all the safety gear you need

  • Staff remain nearby to assist

Going Unguided or Long-Distance?

In some cases, if you want to take a jet ski far from shore or outside of riding zones, a license may be needed – but this isn’t common for tourists.

Is It Beginner-Friendly?

Yes. Jet skis are easy to handle, and our team will walk you through everything.
